DIY $20 Wedding Sign Stand
Want to know how I made this Wedding Sign Stand for $20? Check out this tutorial below! The entire project took me less than two hours, start to finish.
Materials and Tools You’ll Need
- three 3/4″ PVC (10 ft. long) pieces
- six 90 degree angle 3/4″ PVC connectors
- two “T” shape 3/4″ PVC connectors
- sandpaper
- spray paint (I used Behr paint’s new flat black paint and was SO impressed)
- mallet or hammer
- blue tarp or dropcloth for spray painting
- miter saw to cut PVC. I used a miter saw, but you could easily use a handsaw, PVC cutter or table saw.
Dimensions
The sign stand is 3 feet wide, and stands 5 feet tall. The base of the sign is 3 feet by 2 feet. This stand is the perfect size for a 24″x48″ sign in my opinion (that’s what I used!).
The first thing you’ll need to do is cut the three 10 foot PVC pieces to size. For this stand you’ll need:
- three 3 ft. PVC pieces
- four 1 ft. PVC pieces
- two 5 ft. PVC pieces
I cut the PVC with my miter saw, but PVC cutters or a handsaw would work great as well. After you finish cutting the PVC to the correct dimensions, it is time to start assembling. I laid out a tarp and began using the PVC connectors to put together the PVC pieces. I used a rubber mallet to make sure the pieces were firmly in the PVC connectors.
After I had the stand assembled, I set it up on the tarp and lightly sanded the PVC to ensure good paint adherence. After wiping the dust off, I was ready to paint!
When spray painting plastic, it is important to do light coats to avoid any drips. Once I finished painting, the stand was ready for its sign!
How easy is that? What do you think, would you be willing to tackle this project?
