Galentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to celebrate the special bonds between friends, and what better way to add a touch of sweetness to the festivities than with custom-made gluten-free sugar cookies? In this blog post, I’ll take you through the process of creating these heart-shaped sugar cookies from scratch to serve as unique table name holders for a Galentine’s Day dinner party.
Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients and Supplies
First, start by gathering all the necessary ingredients and supplies. If you are also gluten free, make sure to get some GF flour and don’t forget to grab a heart-shaped cookie cutter to create the perfect canvas for your personalized cookies.
Here’s a list of products I used:
- Gluten Free Flour
- Pink Royal Icing (or whatever color you prefer)
- Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter
- Marble Rolling Pin
- Unbleached Parchment Paper
- Kitchenaid Classic Mixer (any mixer will do!)
- Edible Cookie Markers
Step 2: Baking the Heart-Shaped Cookies
Prepare your sugar cookie dough according to your favorite recipe. Following the recipe’s instructions, roll out the dough and use the heart-shaped cookie cutter to craft individual cookies for each guest. then bake to perfection! I recommend lining your cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to avoid cookies sticking to the pan and breaking.
Step 3: Icing the Cookies
Once the cookies have cooled, it’s time to add a pop of color with pink royal icing. You can use any color for the cookies! It is very important you use cookie icing and NOT frosting in order to write on the cookies. Royal icing will dry completely smooth after a few minutes, but takes hours to fully set up. Allow the cookies to rest in the fridge overnight to let the icing set and achieve the perfect texture before attempting to write on the cookie.
Step 4: Time to Personalize
Now comes the personalized touch that makes each guest feel special. Once the icing has hardened, take out your edible cookie markers in your desired color! I opted for red to compliment the pink icing. Carefully write each guest’s name on their respective cookies, turning each sweet treat into a delightful and unique table name holder.
Step 5: Setting the Table with Love
On the day of your Galentine’s Day dinner party, arrange the personalized heart-shaped cookies on each guest’s plate. Watch as their faces light up with when they discover this thoughtful and edible table name holder awaiting them. If you’re interested in all of the party details, checkout the full blog post here!
