Create Your Own Custom Rhinestone Combat Boots: A How-To Tutorial
At the beginning of this year I had this ridiculous urge to bedazzle a pair of combat boots that I had accidentally spilled paint on. Now that they’re finished, I’m convinced everyone needs a pair of these!!! With just a few materials and a bit of creativity, you can transform your plain boots into unique statement pieces that reflect your edgy style. In this tutorial, I’ll guide you through the process step by step.

Materials Needed
- Black combat boots (I recommend using boots with a side zipper)
- Black rhinestones (I used sizes 5mm and 7mm)
- E6000 glue (I prefer the small tubes for this project)
- Small rhinestone applicator tool (optional but helpful)
Step 1: Plan Your Design
Before applying any rhinestones, it’s helpful to plan out your design. You can sketch it on paper or visualize it directly on your boots. Decide where you want to place the rhinestones and how you want them arranged. I decided to put different size rhinestones all over the boots, placed close together. I’m so happy with how they turned out!
*NOTE: if your boots aren’t brand new, make sure they are clean to ensure proper adherence.
Step 2: Apply the Glue
Apply a small amount of E6000 glue onto the boots and using the applicator tool or your fingers, press the rhinestone into the glue. Be careful not to use too much glue, as it can seep out around the edges and give you a messy look. If you prefer, you could apply the glue to the back of the rhinestones and then place them onto the boots, but I personally find this process more difficult.
Step 3: Attach the Rhinestones
Carefully place the rhinestone onto the desired spot on your boot. Press down gently to ensure it adheres securely to the surface. Continue this process, working in small sections, until you’ve covered the areas you want bedazzle. This is time-consuming, but very satisfying. I usually set up my supplies on a marble tray so I could work on these boots while watching TV on the couch!
Step 4: Allow the Glue to Dry + Enjoy!
Once all the rhinestones are in place, allow the boots to dry completely according to the instructions on the E6000 glue. This usually takes around 24 to 72 hours, depending on the temperature and humidity levels. After the glue has dried, inspect your boots for any loose rhinestones or areas that need touch-ups. Carefully reapply glue as needed and press down on any loose rhinestones to secure them in place.
Once the glue has fully cured and all the rhinestones are securely attached, your bedazzled black combat boots are ready to wear! Pair them with your favorite outfits to add a touch of sparkle and style to any look. And before you ask, you can get these snake-print fishnets here!
With just a bit of time and a lot of rhinestones, you can easily transform a pair of plain black combat boots into custom favorites that reflect your personal style. Whether you’re attending a music festival, hitting the town with friends, or simply want to add some flair to your everyday attire, these bedazzled boots give main character energy wherever you go!
